METERS & TIMERS

Please read all of the information on this page carefully. Meters are complete units and contain the timer, coin mechanism and coin box inside. If you request just a timer, you will not have a meter case or coin mechanism.

We have 3 basic styles of meters, the HM6, HM5 and our push button non-coin operated version. Each one of these units has the ability to take any timer that we offer.

Below is our complete range of timers and meters  that will suit every need for a timed vend.  We have done many different custom applications involving gas, water and energy conservation with these meters in various different markets.

For questions regarding our meters or timers do not hesitate to contact us!!

HM6 Series Coin/Token Operated Meters

Basic Components for the Coin or Token Operation of Time Metered Electrical Items Such as Pumps, Outdoor Sports Court Lighting, Heaters or Valves for Showers or other applications.

The meters are made with security in mind. They feature a heavy gauge welded steel construction, with a Black Powder Coat Finish. Coin boxes lock on all four sides and are enclosed in a vault that separates coins from the timer & coin mechanism area.

The HM6 utilizes A Drop/Roll Down Style mechanism, which allows for a wide variety of sizes of round tokens or coins. It uses either a single-shot timer, accumulating timer, or accumulating timer with output buzzer. Keep in mind that using the single-shot timer limits acceptance to only one token or coin, while the accumulating timer will count up to 7 coins to start and accumulates with the insertion of added coins. The meter is serviced from the front, allowing it to be recessed into a wall and still allow complete service. The coin box locks on all four sides and holds approximately 700 coins/tokens.

HM6 DIMENSIONS
4½w x 13 7/8H x 9D
Complete housing weight approximately 17 pounds.

Push button meter

When you don't want to charge for your resources but want to limit usage and costly waste!

For  users who wish to only regulate time, we also offer a push button model on all of our timers.

Our NEMA rate push button enclosure is a great way to add control to your lighting, showers or any other resource that would need to be controlled without using coins or tokens.  This unit was designed to accommodate facilities in remote locations, or in areas were people choose to not add an additional profit center.

Many of our parks and recreation areas only want to conserve their resources and now we have a durable solution to meet those needs.

Inside our push button meter you will have a choice of timer options along with an audible alarm feature that will notify the user when the unit is about to shut off.  These units are great for many different applications or in areas were coin usage or token dispensing may be difficult.

This meter has an optional locking system on the side of the meter that allows for controlled usage of the push button operation.  This helps to regulate the times when users are able to utilize the resources as well as to help control unwanted abuse and misuse.

Made of a Solid NEMA rated water proof plastic based material, each unit is water tight and easily mounted in any location.  As with each of our meters; this unit has the ability to accept any of our timers as mentioned below.

Simple One-Shot Timer
OPERATION: Input voltage must be applied to terminals 1 and 3 and maintained prior to and during operation. Breaking power while operating will reset timer to zero when power is restored. The HRD unit will accept one closure from the initiate switch and activate the load for the set time. On completion of the time setting the load is de-energized. The Initiation Switch MUST break before a new cycle may be initiated. Timing is adjustable by means of the small knob with a repeatability of .5%.
APPLICATIONS: For control of pumps, showers, lighting, small motors, and other electrical devices where a coin operated timed function is desired.
Simple wiring and easy installation: two input leads into the timer, two leads to the load, and two leads to the initiate switch, make for simple trouble free service. Electro-mechanical relay allows loads up to 20 amp, with little or no heat dissipation problems.

Accumulating / Totalizing Timer

OPERATION: Input voltage must be applied and maintained prior to, and during operation. The HRV unit will count each closure of the initiate switch. When the total number of closures equals the total number to start (up to 7), which was set on the lower three DIP switches, the load is energized and the vend time is started. While running, at every initiate switch closure, the HRV unit adds one time interval per switch closure, as set on the upper seven DIP switches. Total time is the time interval set on the upper switches, times the number of closures set to start on the lower switches.

For example, a total time of 15 minutes is desired for a minimum of two closures. The "coins to start" switch group will have the "2" switch set to the right, and the time interval switches for "4", "2", "1" & ".50" will be set to the right. All other switches remain to the left. The first closure will cause no immediate action. The second closure will start the vend, which will run for the 15 minutes (2 x 7.50 - the aggregate time of the four switches). If added closures are made during the run time, 7.5 minutes is added to the remaining time. Up to 260 added cycles may be accumulated in this manner Total range for the timers is from 15 seconds (.25 minutes) to 31 minutes, 45 seconds (31.75 minutes) per closure.
APPLICATIONS: For the timed control of TV / radio, car wash vacuums, pumps at marinas, campsites, air compressors, water stations, showers, tennis / basketball court lights.

UNITS MAY BE COIN/TOKEN OPERATED OR PUSH BUTTON

NOT JUST A PAY SHOWER!

REASONS TO CONSIDER TOKEN USE

CLICK FOR PDF BROCHURE

You may not wish to charge your patrons for use of the showers, but with water conservation becoming a very important issue and with energy costs for heating water rising rapidly, you will save money and control your operating costs by using the Aqua-Miser Shower Controls.  Control WHO uses your facility and how long they are in the facility. You also increase customer satisfaction, as the one getting a late shower doesn't have to take a cold one because all the hot water is gone. And there would be no more issues with folks leaving without turning the water off!

Tokens can be a hassle. There has to be some way to put them into the hands of the customers. But in some applications it's well worth it. Tokens allow you to restrict WHO is using the facilities and how often they can use it. It also offers security as there is no cash in the coin boxes to tempt vandals in an unsupervised area.

SYSTEM 1 Aqua-Miser: uses a single shot timer with a Model 444 lay-down style chute to accept single coin or token.

SYSTEM 2 Aqua-Miser: uses the same single coin lay-down chute, but it has an accumulating and totalizing timer. Totalizing allows a setting that counts the number of times the chute is to be inserted before it initiates the time cycle. Once started, additional coins may be inserted to add to the total time.

SYSTEM 3 Aqua-Miser: uses a single-shot timer, as in System I, but the coin mechanism is a Vertical Eight that can accept from one to 8 coins in a single stroke. The coin chute may be removed from the housing and the price changed in the field with out disassembling the unit. This mechanism is interchangeable with the same mechanisms used in coin operated Laundry Equipment. It may be produced to accept quarters, tokens or foreign coins.

SYSTEM 4 Aqua-Miser: uses the accumulating timer with the Vertical Eight Coin mechanism. This allows for very high priced vends for unique applications.

NOTE: The systems below use the HM6 Meter housing. The advantage over the HM5 is that the case can be serviced from the front. This allows the unit to be mounted into a wall. The drop mechanism also eliminates the protrusion that a push/pull style mechanism presents.

SYSTEM 5 Aqua-Miser: uses the single-shot timer with KWM drop mechanism. Keep in mind that the single shot timer will start with the insertion of just one coin or token and it must complete its cycle before another may be inserted.

SYSTEM 6 Aqua-Miser: uses the accumulating/ totalizing timer. This will allow the insertion of up to 7 coins to start and added coins accumulate additional time.

SYSTEM 7 Aqua-Miser: is primary for use on recreational light, but may be used in conjunction with the valve and transformer for shower use. This uses an accumuatling timer with output buzzer and the KWM drop mechanism.

NOTE: The systems listed below all use our NEMA rated push button enclosure.  They are non-coin operated and contain the timer inside the unit. Our push button enclosures do not have room inside the unit to house the transformer, this must be housed in another location external from the meter itself.

SYSTEM 8 Aqua-Miser: NEMA Push button enclosure with Single Shot Timer.  Warning buzzer and Key Lock out optional

SYSTEM 9 Aqua-Miser: NEMA Push button enclosure with an accumulative Timer.  Warning buzzer and Key Lock out optional

SYSTEM 10 Aqua-Miser: NEMA Push button enclosure with Accumulative Timer.  Warning buzzer and Key Lock out optional

Complete AquaMiser Systems include a transformer for taking line voltage down to a safe 24 Volt operating current. The transformer furnished is a plate mounted transformer, to be mounted on a proper electrical box, and safely away from wetting. All AquaMisers are 24 Volt Systems for the protection of the customer and lower liability problems.

We now offer an in-line valve as well as the right angle valve. In some applications one may be more convenient than the other.

Aquamiser / Shower Meters

There is quite a bit of hype about various "certifications" on shower equipment.

First, in most applications, UL/CSA listings are REQUIRED only on systems rated to operate at 36 Volts or more. Listings for lesser voltages is voluntary.

All of the components in Monarch meters are UL/CSA listed.

Any company offering such components can offer no more than that, as the quality of the installation will determine the true safety of the units.

Secondly, There is no central clearing or certifying agency for ADA compliance. According to offices within the Federal and State Justice department who handle challenges under ADA, the greatest concern is with how the installation is made. For example, if the units are installed in areas inaccessible to those in wheelchairs, then there is no ADA compliance. No Manufacturer can claim to be fully ADA compliant unless the Manufacturer is also accepting responsibility for the installer.

Monarch has produced meters for use in showers and other coin metered applications since 1903.

There are units in service today that were originally sold with electro-mechanical timers in the 60's, long before many thought that conserving water and minimizing waste in showers was of any interest at all. The recent addition of the HM6 and the accumulative timers, as well as the up coming introduction of an in-wall unit, demonstrate Monarch's commitment to serving this need. Monarch units are in use in many countries as well as North American locations.

LIGHTING

Coin or Token Operated Controls For Recreational Lighting

« MORE ABOUT THE HM6

WE ALSO OFFER A PUSH BUTTON METER THAT UTILIZES THE SAME TIMER CONTROLS AND FEATURES, WITHOUT THE COIN OR TOKEN USE.

 TL2 Timer with Buzzer/Alarm

"Out" controls the load, normally a coil in the contactor controlling the lights. "Wn" controls the alarm buzzer.
Available with two Timer intervals: One minute, with a maximum of 32 minutes per coin. Alarm can be adjusted to active 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 90 seconds or 120 seconds before shut off.
Five minute interval with a maximum of 160 Minutes per coin.
Alarm can be adjusted to activate 2, 4, 6 or 8 minutes before shut off.
Use our buzzer or your own 24VAC Alarm or Warning Light.

The combination of the HM6 Meter Housing, the TL2 Timer and an Alarm Buzzer creates a system ideal for use to control lighting systems on Tennis Courts, Basketball Courts and other similar venues.
The timer totalizes the number of coins to start, up to eight. It will accumulate additional cycles with the addition of more coins, and has an adjustable output to the buzzer which will notify the user when total time is near to finishing. At that time, the patrons may add more coins, or allow to shut off.

This avoids much of the aggravation created by lights with long warm up cycles suddenly going dark in the middle of a game.
The buzzer is mounted in the enclosure. It has a volume adjustment, from loud (80db at 3 ft) to a soft hum.
MORE ABOUT THE TL2

IMPORTANT NOTE! TO LIMIT LIABILITY PROBLEMS, TO SATISFY MANY INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS, AND TO PROVIDE A SAFE SYSTEM FOR THE USE OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC, WE RECOMMEND THAT THE CONTACTOR HAVE A 24VAC COIL AND THAT A TRANSFORMER BE INSTALLED IN THE ENCLOSURE, PROVIDING 24VAC TO THE TIMER AND BUZZER. THIS ELIMINATES SHOCK HAZARDS TO ANY USER SHOULD A UNIT BE DAMAGED BY ACCIDENT OR BY VANDALISM.
